In terms of flavour, coffee from Papua New Guinea is very similar to its relative, Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. Some connoisseurs find the beans from the island state even tastier. Quite possibly – because the climatic conditions in Papua New Guinea are even better than those in the home country of the speciality coffee.
The Sigri plantation was founded in the 1950s and is now one of the best in the world. It is located in the Wahgi Valley in the West Highland province of Papua New Guinea.
This excellent Arabica coffee grows at an altitude of around 1800 metres. With its cool climate, fertile soils and well-dosed rainfall, PNG offers the best conditions for coffee cultivation.
Sigri Arabica coffee from Papua New Guinea combines the lively flavour and sharp acidity of Latin American coffee with the typical richness and complex depth of Indonesian coffee. It is strong and spicy, with a noble, piquant acidity and a wonderfully complex fruit flavour.
The filter coffee impresses with its balanced, harmonious body and fine sweetness. Its particularly mild acidity rounds off the flavour profile.
Subtle citrus flavours are best accentuated in the AeroPress or Press Stamp. Subtle flavours are best brought out by the pourover method (filtration method).
