Description
India Karnataka AA (often referred to as India Plantation AA) is a high-quality Arabica coffee from the Karnataka region in southern India, which is considered the cradle of Indian coffee cultivation. It is grown in the mountainous regions, particularly in Chikmagalur, at altitudes of approximately 1,000 to 1,700 meters.
Characteristics and flavor profile:
Aroma & flavor: The coffee is known for its spicy, full-bodied aroma with notes of chocolate, nuts, and a delicate, often citrusy acidity.
Acidity: It is generally low in acidity, smooth, and very balanced.
Quality: The designation “AA” stands for a high grade, meaning the beans are large and uniform (Screen 17/18).
Processing: Mostly wet-processed (washed).
Cultivation: The coffee is often grown under shade trees, which contributes to slow ripening and a more intense aroma.
Usage:
This coffee is excellent for portafilter (espresso), fully automatic machines, and as drip coffee. Due to its mildness and spice, it is often used as a base for bold yet balanced espresso blends.
